Since the beginning of the 20th century, the "Matson Line" has been famous as a Hawaii route connecting San Francisco to Honolulu. Commissioned to design the cover of the menu used in the ship's restaurant was the painter Eugene Savage. At the time, Savage was a popular artist who received offers from various companies and worked on advertising design in various fields. He painted six pieces for the Matson Line, and the aloha shirt, composed of the main parts of one of them, "ALOHA~UNIVERSAL WORLD", is the "Celebration".

The cover of the original menu depicts Hawaiians throwing a thanksgiving party with a large harvest on an outrigger canoe. The layout in which the motif of the figure is extracted from it and surrounded by banana leaves gives off a strong impact. This work was created by Polynesian Sportswear, a brand of Polynesian Casuals. The company also worked on shirts from well-known brands such as Andredo and Machinany, and also focused on women's evening wear such as Mu Mu.
