Princess Yaegaki was born into the Yueshu Nagao family. She was made the daughter of the son of an opposing Takeda family by Ashikaga Yoshiharu, a shogun of the Muromachi shogunate. What is depicted in this work is a complex story that mixes the conflict between the Nagao family and the Takeda family and the conspiracy surrounding both families. It is fantastically depicted as Princess Yaegaki taking out the "Helmet of Legality" of Takeda Nobugen, which was the cause of the conflict, and fleeing across the lake guided by the fox fire.
Born in Edo Nihonbashi in 1797, Kuniyoshi studied painting from an early age, and his "Jongdae Sword Diagram," which he drew when he was 12 years old, caught the eye of the first Utagawa Toyokuni. This led him to join the Utagawa school at the age of 15, but he experienced a long period of understudy. A turning point came with the publication in 1827 of the 10th year of the Bunsei government (1827), "One Hundred and Eighteen Men and One Piece of Folk Shuiden Go-Jie," and he achieved success as a painter.
Japanese Design: National Treasure of Japan
Focusing on the painters of the Edo period, when Japanese culture and art expanded further, the works of the masters are reproduced on a canvas called aloha shirts, reviving the passion embedded in the designs that Japan is proud of in the world to the present day. This series, which began with a collaboration with Katsushika Hokusai's work, adds new artists and takes on the next development.
